MECHANICAL/DESIGN ENGINEER

A family-owned company, Dynomax designs, manufactures and develops high-precision machined components, injection molding and tooling, sub-assemblies, automated work cells, specialty machines, and machine tool spindles since 1986. Our Electrical Connectors Division is seeking a Mechanical/Design Engineer with Electrical Connector/Cable Harness experience preferred. Recent graduates with a demonstrated aptitude with very small parts are also encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities

The Mechanical/Design Engineer will design product, as well as develop manufacturing packages including routers, drawings, models, and work instructions. Manufacturing processes span from raw material selection, machining, processing, to assembly.  

  • Develop product designs using solid modeling and CAD software.
  • Performs design calculations
  • Prepare equipment or material specifications.
  • Research, design, evaluate and manufacture mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements.
  • Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems and processes.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations.
  • Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Maintain proper documentation in accordance with general manufacturing standards customer specification and Dynomax Inc. policies.
  • Read and interpret customer and industry specifications
  • Develop documents which drive the manufacturing process: drawings, models, assemblies, etc.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role in heavily documented and specification-centric industry preferred
  • Experience working with CNC machining preferred
  • Demonstrated aptitude with very small parts
  • Demonstrated ability to: review customer engineering, and create routers, drawings, work instructions for Production and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability to: create standards and engineer solutions
  • Experience using a modern CAD system

 

Our ideal Manufacturing Engineer will also have experience in the following:

  • Experience with Aerospace/Defense OEM specifications
  • Experience with Epicor ERP System
  • Experience in a Lean culture
  • Knowledge of MasterCAM, SiemensNX or Catia
